Baba Balaknath, a prominent figure in the BJP, was born on April 16, 1984, in Kohrana, Rajasthan, and at the age of 39 as of 2023, he is making waves as a politician.

Having embarked on his political journey as a first-time Member of Parliament, Balaknath ventured into the political landscape in 2023, contesting his maiden MLA election in Rajasthan.

Hailing from Tijara, his candidacy under the BJP has garnered attention, with many drawing comparisons to Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath—a parallel that Balaknath deliberately distances himself from.

Baba Balaknath’s affiliation with the Bharatiya Janata Party began in 2014, marking the commencement of his political career.

Born in Alwar, Rajasthan, his strong ties with the local populace, combined with his spiritual influence, swiftly elevated him within the party ranks.

In 2019, Balaknath achieved a significant milestone by securing victory as a Member of Parliament from the Alwar Lok Sabha constituency.

This triumph signaled a transformative shift in Alwar’s political dynamics as he successfully translated his spiritual following into formidable political support.

A disciple of the late Mahant Chand Nath Yogi, the former BJP MP of Alwar and Mahant of the Baba Mastnath Math in Rohtak, Haryana, Balaknath was declared the successor by Chand Nath before his demise in 2017.

Hailing from a Yadav family in Alwar district, Balaknath also holds the position of Chancellor at Baba Mastnath University in Rohtak.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath actively campaigned for Balaknath in Alwar.

Following Adityanath’s return as CM, Balaknath expressed, “Yogi ji and our sampraday and Panth are the same, and this is the win of our elder brother.”

Tijara, the constituency from which Balaknath is contesting, witnessed a BJP victory only once, in 2013, during a party wave.

Historically, the seat, once held by Rajasthan’s only Muslim CM, Barkatullah Khan, is predominantly occupied by Muslims, followed by Yadavs, SCs, and Gujjars.

In 2018, the seat was won by the BSP’s Sandeep Kumar, who later joined the Congress.

In a surprising move, the Congress did not field Kumar this time and opted for Imran Khan.

Baba Balak Nath, renowned as the leader of the Baba Mastnath Math in Rohtak, has emerged as a prominent figure amid the political landscape in Rajasthan.

In the elections concluded in 2023 in Rajasthan, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) successfully ousted the Congress, securing 115 out of the 199 contested seats.

Following this saffron victory, the BJP has intensified its efforts to select a new chief minister for the state.

During the election campaign, the BJP strategically refrained from naming a chief ministerial candidate, leading to widespread speculation about potential contenders for the role.

Notably, Alwar MP Baba Balaknath has become a subject of considerable attention, fueling speculation that he might be chosen by the party’s high command to lead the state.

Baba Balak Nath, currently serving as the Lok Sabha MP from Alwar, holds the esteemed position of the head of the Baba Mastnath Math in Rohtak.

He contested as the BJP candidate for the Tijara assembly constituency in the assembly elections.

Popularly known as ‘Rajasthan ka Yogi,’ Balaknath is the eighth ‘mahant’ (chief priest in a monastery) of Baba Mast Nath Math.

His resounding victory in the constituency, defeating Congress candidate Imran Khan by a significant margin of 6,173 votes, attests to his political influence.

Balaknath’s parents, Subhash Yadav and Urmila Devi, devout followers of Baba Mast Nath Dera, pledged to dedicate their first child to the service of the religious guru.

In 2016, Balaknath was officially declared the successor of Baba Mast Nath Dera and assumed the leadership of the Math.

Reflecting on his victory and the BJP’s success in the assembly polls, Balaknath attributed it to the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, emphasizing that the party garnered votes in the Prime Minister’s name.

Balaknath, acknowledging Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath as a ‘big brother,’ has previously lauded Adityanath’s ‘bulldozer raj.’

When asked about the potential chief minister for Rajasthan, Balaknath evaded a direct response, stating,

“Aap sab ki kripa hai… I have dedicated my life to public service. I am serving the party. I am engaged in serving people.”
